southside coffee: latest south brooklyn coffee find

j and i are always on the hunt for great coffee — and  at least for now — most of the really great places in new york seem to be finding their way to williamsburg which is really not that convenient for a quick cup in the morning with two kids in tow.   so several months ago we were very pleased to discover southside coffee on 6th avenue and 19th street — not exactly walking distance for us but definitely worth the trip.  with really remarkable baristas, and coffee from intelligentsia, they make outstanding cappuccinos (all i prefer to drink) and the mood is nice and low key.  not the coziest spot, but with baked pastries southside coffee is definitely worth a weekly trek.  southside coffee, 652 6th avenue at 19th street, brooklyn, new york, 718.599.0887.

Looking forward to trying this. I am a cappuccino only type of person, too! (although I tend to like them sweeter than most)

and i thought you didn’t drink any coffee things at all! tx. for the comment — you’re my first. now i need to figure out how to broadcast this a bit more, though i think i want to wait till i have another week of posts. fun.

  3. [...] super fancy marzocco machine, and while it was good i still prefer the intelligentsia coffee at southside coffee.  but for restaurant cappuccino, i don’t think i can complain too [...]

  4. The coffee is divine, the croissants are from Balthazar, the scones are from Scratch bread (via the oven at Toby’s) but the best part by far are the people. I’ve spent more hours than I’d like to admit spayed out in the couch in South Side, and talking smack with the folks behind the counter. Icing on the cake? They can help you when your stuck on the crossword.
