boucher: gorgeous yet affordable precious jewels

boucher-pearls

well before the meatpacking district turned high-end trendy, a tiny little jewelry shop named boucher opened up on a cobblestone street offering affordable hand made necklaces, bracelets and earrings designed by laura mady and her staff.    filled with shades of greens, pinks, golds and purples, the beautiful gem collections include pink sapphires, pearls, opals, turquoise,  black diamonds, aquamarine stones and rubies among many others.  for more photos of boucher’s lovely wares see ztrend.   many pieces are under $1,000 and there are plenty closer to the $400 or $500 range and some of the simpler pieces are even less.

the few boucher pieces i have are gorgeous, have held up beautifully, and only make me want more.    i have feared, that just like florent,  the tremendous gentrification would force this charming pioneer to leave, or even worse, close.  so maybe, in this instance, if boucher can survive there might be a silver lining to this economic downturn after all.      boucher, 9 ninth avenue at little west 12th street, manhattan, new york, .

update: sorry to report but boucher closed this summer.  if you would like to be added to their mailing list, the email is .
